General Motors India after their wonderful success in the Indian Auto Market by launching new models of their cars in different variants is now trying to make its grip more firm, as the company has lined up few models to be launched in 2011 and 2012. The major surprise is that the company is showcasing its new model on the 23 of this month, this new model is an electric car from the company named Chevrolet Beat Electric.
With the success of Chevrolet Beat petrol and the recently launched Chevrolet Beat LPG variants in India the company has also announced the launch of 3-cylinder Chevrolet Beat Diesel, the diesel version will be available in the market by this festive season. Chevrolet Beat Diesel price is expected to be somewhere around Rs5 lakh and will have many new and wonderful features than the petrol variant with its 16 valve -4 cylinder engine the car will surely have much more power and would give a wonderful experience to the driver.
The launch of Chevrolet Beat Electric in India is not yet announced by the company and there is no chance of its launch in the near future as the company will first analyze its domestic market response and then it will be launched in the Indian market for the benefits of the Indian people.
The current model present in the market is quite popular, Chevrolet Beat petrol variant price starts from Rs. 3.75 lakh to Rs. 4.5 lakh(ex-showroom Delhi) as we move up to the higher model, however Chevrolet Beat Diesel price is expected to be bit higher than the petrol variant.Chevrolet Beat Electric price is not yet revealed by the company but the company cannot keep it in the price band above Rs. 5 lakh and cannot price it below Mahindra Reva i ,the electric car launched by Mahindra company few years back.
This new car will surely give a strong competition to the other electric cars present in the Indian market. As the details of this car are not yet available but it is speculated that the car will travel approximately 100 km for each charge of the battery. Rumor has it that the company can come up with both lead acid and Li-Ion battery in the market, the lead acid model would be surely much cheaper than the Li-Ion model.
