The Hyundai i20 facelift has been teased for the first time in India, ahead of its expected festive season launch, likely by November 2023. The outgoing generation of the premium hatch debuted in 2020 and it’s getting its first major update since then. This facelift has already debuted in other countries.
What’s New?

The changes to the front look quite subtle but give it a slightly sportier appeal. There’s the new tweaked Hyundai cascading grille, a new headlamp design with similar inverted LED DRLs, a revised bumper, and side intakes. The Hyundai logo bears a new look, just like we see on all the recent models. Moreover, the front looks identical to the globally sold i20, which also received a facelift in May.
Other Expected Changes
Going by the internationally facelifted model, the 2023 Hyundai i20 will get new alloy wheels as well. The rear profile should be updated with a sharper bumper and a more prominent skid plate. The interior is expected to be tweaked with a fresh set of upholstery.

New Expected Features
New feature additions for the updated hatchback could include a new digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a dual-camera dash cam, and multi-colour ambient lighting. Safety could get better with six airbags as standard and the addition of a 360-degree camera. Hyundai had stated earlier that several models will get the ADAS kit going forward, but the i20 facelift is unlikely to offer that technology just yet.
It’s already a feature-rich offering, loaded with niceties such as an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, wireless charger, cruise control, a rear parking camera, up to six airbags, and hill hold assist.
Updated Powertrains
The i20 facelift should continue with the same 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, which gets the choice of 5-speed manual and CVT transmissions. The 120PS/172Nm 1-litre turbo-petrol engine will also be retained. Transmission options will include 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT, like the outgoing model. However, it is unlikely that the Hyundai hatchback will get the diesel engine option again.

Expected Price
The new Hyundai i20 will command a premium over its current price range of Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 11.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback will continue to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz. Expect the i20 N Line to be included in the facelift as well.
