Honda has unveiled the facelifted 9th generation model of its flagship sedan, Accord, at 2016 Auto Expo. It will lock horns with Toyota Camry Hybrid which has already started gaining ground in the Indian market.
The facelifted hybrid Accord gets an all-new 7-inch infotainment system for the music enthusiasts. It supports Apple CarPlay and Google Android for added comfort. Moderate changes are visible inside and out. It gets a more aggressive grille on front this time along with redesigned LED taillamps. Apart from this, the car is largely the same as before.
The car runs on 2.0-litre mill coupled to an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 196 horses. This is mated to an E-CVT automatic transmission. Its lone competitor, Camry Hybrid, generates 158 bhp of power and 213 Nm of torque.
The flagship sedan of Honda was discontinued in India in the year 2013 due to decrease in demand. An increase in production cost was also responsible, as some parts of Accord had to be imported. This time, however, the carmaker looks prepared to nail the market. It has re-entered the space observing the bright future of the Indian market. Analysts have predicted the Indian economy will grow at least 7% when other countries are struggling to even maintain the current growth rate. Deliberating on this, Honda has upgraded its product to ensure it does not miss out on any opportunity. It has made sure the sedan appeals to the petrolheads and out do its competitors easily.
