Honda Brio likely to be launched with diesel engine in future

Small car made under Honda badge, Honda Brio expected to be launched in October 2011, has made the Indian Auto Market heat up already. It’s been a long time that Honda has been scrutinized for its lack of diesel engine cars in India. And this lack of diesel cars has literally affected the sales of Honda city cars against its competitors like Maruti Suzuki SX4 and Volkswagen Vento. But, now Honda is all set and thinking of providing a diesel engine to its Honda Brio in future soon.

Diesel cars in India are quite popular these days, as petrol prices are soaring high. And Honda has finally warming up towards the idea of providing Honda Brio diesel model soon. It could really act as a mini comeback of Honda into the Indian Auto market. Currently, the auto market is literally dominated by diesel and hatchback cars in India, which actually benefit Honda Brio’s diesel variant. But only a diesel variant of Honda Brio won’t save Honda from criticism. It should also be well-priced. There is a possibility that apart from giving Honda Brio diesel model, Honda might also give diesel engines to Honda CR-V, Honda Civic and Accord. The launch of these diesel variants is expected in FY 2013-14.

Now, Honda needs to focus on two main things before launching its new cars, one is keeping the car fuel efficient and the other one is delivering great performance. Therefore, it can be concluded that Honda India basically is determined to provide Honda Brio with 1.5l of diesel engine in future because it will not only make its consumers happy, but also help Honda to tone down the excise duty. Honda Brio launch which is slated for the festive season of Diwali is eagerly awaited by the Indian customers.
