It also gets four new features for the Honda Connect suite

  • Honda City is offered with connected car tech as standard.

  • It now works with Google Assistant-enabled devices so users can use the prompt ‘Ok Google’.

  • The fifth-gen Honda City gets 10 voice-enabled features.

  • It also gets four new Honda Connect features: fuel log analysis, cost of maintenance, valet alert, and options for service products.

  • The Honda City is a premium offering priced from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 14.94 lakh.

The fifth-gen Honda City is equipped with connected car tech that is compatible with Amazon’s digital assistant, Alexa, for voice commands. The model’s connected car tech has now been updated for compatibility with Google Assistant-enabled devices such as Android smartphones, Google Nest Speakers, and iOS smartphones too. So you can now use ten voice-enabled features on your Honda City with the prompt ‘Ok Google’.

The ten functions available via Google Assistant-enabled devices are detailed below:

Honda has also added four new features to the fifth-gen city as part of the Honda Connect package: fuel log analysis, cost of maintenance, enhanced options for service products, and valet alert. The fuel log analysis offers a graphical representation of information such as the user’s fuel filling trend, distance driven, fuel consumer, fuel cost, and cost per km. It is meant to help analyse the car’s real-world fuel economy as per the user’s driving. The second feature does as its name suggests and helps the owner track cost of vehicle services.

Valet alert is a bit like geo-fencing but specific to the limits of valet parking so the owner gets alerted if the car leaves that area. The final addition to Honda Connect is a function that lets users avail Honda’s value added services via the app itself.

The fifth-gen Honda City is a premium offering equipped with connected car tech as standard. It is unclear whether existing owners will also get the benefits of these updates. It is offered in three trims with the choice of a petrol and a diesel engine. The City, which is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), rivals the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, as well as the soon-to-be-replaced Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
