How far would one go to save its stake in the auto market. This question is definitely popping in the minds of Japanese car maker Honda, who are late in coming with a diesel version of its famous sedan. Honda the well known known brand in auto mobiles industry has always enjoyed a lucrative domestic car market for itself. But it seems with time the Japanese car makers are being pushed back as other car models are taking over its throne. However, it is difficult to beat the kings of the auto industry. Honda again to win over its top position is coming with a new variant, a diesel version for its very stylish Honda Civic. This car with its petrol version has ruled over the D-segment but with the increasing craze of diesel cars this beauty on wheels has been pushed.
It seems finally the auto company has pulled its socks and will come with diesel powertrain in Honda Civic. It is being highly speculated that the new diesel mill in Honda Civic will come with 1.5 litre i-DTEC engine which is likely to churn out a no less than 100 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. After the car model will be launched Honda will be able to give tough competition to its ace rivals Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla but only by 2013. As it is being predicted that by 2013 Honda Motors will bring its sedan in the domestic auto market. At present Honda Civic is available in 7 variants and starts at a price of Rs 12,83,400 to Rs 14, 99,600 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It is likely that the new diesel car prices will be increased by Rs 70,000.
