In order to take advantage of the festive season, Honda is gearing up to launch the special edition model of its flagship SUV, the CR-V. It is likely to be based on the facelifted CR-V which is already on sale overseas. Honda launched the CR-V in India back in 2018 and it is about time that the flagship gets a facelifted model here.

Compared to the current model, the facelifted CR-V features an updated front grille with less chrome, redesigned front and rear bumpers and blacked-out headlamps.

The CR-V Special Edition will also be equipped with additional features. It gets powered front co-passenger seat, front parking sensors, a powered tailgate and auto-folding ORVMs.

Other features remain similar to the standard CR-V. It gets auto LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, dual-zone AC, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, digital instrument cluster, driver attention monitor, parking camera, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Lane Watch camera, push button start and remote engine start.

Safety feature on offer include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, vehicle stability assist, agile handling assist, hill launch assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold and walk away auto-lock.

Under the hood, the CR-V Special Edition is likely to be powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol engine as the regular model. It makes 154PS and 189Nm mated to a CVT.

Honda is expected to launch the CR-V Special Edition by Diwali 2020. It will be offered in limited numbers but Honda might introduce the updates on the standard CR-V as well in the coming future. The CR-V Special Edition is expected to be priced at a premium of around of Rs 1 lakh over the standard CR-V which retails at Rs 28.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will continue to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq petrol.
