Honda that unveiled the Brio based MPV, Mobilio at the 2013 Indonesia Motor Show, has bagged 4,500 bookings till date. As the company already commenced the pre-bookings for the vehicle, it received an excellent response from the buyers. It will enter production in January 2014 at the company's production plant in Karawang, West Java, and the deliveries of the vehicle will start in February 2014. We earlier reported that the company conducted customer previews of the Mobilio MPV across Indonesia.
Honda Mobilio will also make its way to the Indian auto market, and it has been speculated that it will also be presented at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. For Indonesia, it will be available only in a petrol engine - 1.5-litre i-VTEC that also powers the legendary City sedan. The engine is capable of developing 116bhp and 144Nm of top torque, and will be made available with two transmission options - a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Honda Mobilio will be offered in three trim levels - S, E and an E CVT.
In India, Honda Mobilio will be made available in both petrol and diesel versions. While the petrol model will carry the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine, the diesel MPV will get the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that churns out maximum power output of 98bhp. The diesel engine also powers the Amaze compact sedan, and returns a fuel economy of 24.8kmpl.
Honda Mobilio is priced in the range of 150-180 million Indonesian Rupiah, which is around Rs. 8.5 lakh to 10 lakh in the Indian currency. However, in India the vehicle will be priced around Rs. 6.5 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh. It will compete against the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nisaan Evalia in India.
