Honda Ciel India, a subsidiary of Japan based Honda Motors cleared on Friday that it will not be a part of its parent Honda's global vehicle recall action. The news came after the Honda Motors announced a global vehicle recall due to faulty window switches in its popular cars like Honda Jazz. According to the company the Indian vehicles will not be a part of recall as the it is selling the second generation Jazz model in India which is not its part. The Jazz model which is being recalled globally is the first generation model and it hasn't been sold in markets like India.
Just before Honda, another Japan based car manufacturer, Toyota Motors, recalled its vehicles due to complains about sticking pedals and slipping floormats. Though the Toyota Motors recalled its vehicles in US market only but the company is also checking whether the vehicles sold in other markets like Middle East and Africa would be recalled or not. The recall of vehicles announced by the Honda Motors is another blow the safety-conscious image of Japanese automobile manufacturers which has been spoiled already due to safety related problems surfaced in Toyota Vehicles in US market.
The Honda Jazz model was launched in India in the month of June last year and company has sold about 6,000 units of this model till now. According to the media reports the company will recall 6.46 lakh units of its car models in total worldwide.
