We have just given some information on new Honda Accord coupe version and here’s a new bit of hot news from Honda Motors. It also gives us some insight into the Honda’s luxury brand, Acura which has not quite managed to reach the ears of the Indian consumers as common knowledge. However, the baseline is Honda Motors will showcase the new Honda Acura ILX sedan apart from two other cars from the Acura underpinning at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The new Honda Acura ILX will be unveiled alongside new Acura RDX, an SUV and Acura NSX supercar concept.
There are quite a few things going down for the first time with the new version of the Acura ILX sedan. It is the first time the sedan is going to feature a hybrid electric-petrol engine besides the gasoline engine which has always been powering the sedan. Moreover, it’s the first time the Acura brand is going to get a hybrid plug-in in the sedan. The auto major has quite smartly kept the performance details and the rest pretty much to itself. While beating around the bush, we have many other things to discuss though. To start the story from the beginning, the Honda’s manufacturing plant in Indiana state began operations in 2008.
Within a timeframe of three years, the unit has grown to an extent where the new Acura ILX sedan will go into production at the Indiana unit to supply the cars globally. The new Acura ILX sedan will start production from around March 2012. It is the same unit where the Honda’s popular cars are rolled out like Honda Civic and CNG version of the sedan, not globally though. However, the new Acura ILX is the fifth car from the brand to be rolled out of its single base at Indiana unit. The other four models produced at the plant are Accura RDX, Accura NDX, Accura TL and Accura TDX.
