Honda car fans across the world can now breathe out a long sigh of relief. In contrary to the general assumption that the Honda Motors will have its 1400 flood affected cars in Thailand distributed globally for sales, the latest development came as a relief. Among the 1400 damaged cars were the flagship models Honda City and Honda Brio cars meant more for the Indian car market as well. However, now Honda Motors announces that these 1400 cars will be damaged at the plant itself without harming the neighbourhoods to any extent beginning Tuesday.

Moreover, the Japanese car manufacturer has assured that selling these flood affected cars was never a part of their plan to begin with. Quite obviously the car manufacturer has to keep up with its carefully built image globally, where Honda Motors occupies the number two slot in the US car market. Nevertheless, the announcement from the Honda Motors came a little late where there was quite a bit of uproar until now in the Indian car industry to say the least. The consumers began to draw their own conclusions that the car manufacturer will have these cars repaired (not to mention the extent of repair the damaged cars need to undergo) and then the cars will be offered for sale.  This did not rub off pretty well with the consumers especially after the recent turn of events where the most popular cars are found with life-threatening manufacturing faults.

While consumers just began to put the Tata Nano’s fire catching incidents behind, the filler hose aberrations in the Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Etios Liva hatchback jolted them back to the senses only to be followed by the manufacturing defects in the Chevrolet Captiva SUV. However, both the car manufacturers have spotted the underlying threat proactively to avoid any extensive damage to either their reputation or the consumers. All this on one side, the Honda India has two new cars next on the cards for the India launch. The new Honda Civic and the 2012 Honda CR-V version are slated for a mid-2012 launch. Hopefully, the recent development will in no way effect the deliveries of the 2012 Honda City launched recently in the country.
