While the image shows a test mule covered in camouflage, the similarities to the Grand i10 Nios can still be made out
Update: Hyundai has launched the Aura at Rs 5.8 lakh (ex-showroom India). The sub-4m sedan is available with the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options as well as the Venue's 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. Read more about it here.

It will be tested in different weather and geographical conditions.

We expect it to be offered with the same 1.2-litre engines as the Nios.

Expect it to be priced at a premium of Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh over the Xcent.
Korean carmaker Hyundai has flagged off the Aura from its R&D Centre. For those wondering what the Aurais, it is a sub-4 metre sedan that will eventually succeed the Xcent.

In the image released by Hyundai, the Aura can be scene decked in camouflage. However, the overall shape of the sedan, especially the front fascia, does look a lot like the Grand i10 Nios. Both cars are expected to share quite a few design elements just like the Xcent and the Grand i10. The test mule seems to be adorned with all-new 15-inch alloy wheels.

We expect Hyundai to reveal the Aura at Auto Expo 2020. It is likely to be powered by the same set of 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines that power the Xcent, albeit in a BS6 compliant state. Both engines are likely to be offered with an AMT option just like the Nios.

With Hyundai set to launch the Aura soon, it might be logical for the carmaker to retire the Xcent. However, expect the older sedan to soldier on with lesser variants and powertrain options just like the Grand i10. We also expect Hyundai to continue producing the Xcent for fleet operators. The Aura is likely to be priced at a premium of Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh over the Xcent (Rs 5.81 lakh to Rs 8.75 lakh) considering the fact that it’ll be equipped with BS6 engines and more premium features. When launched, it will go up against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Tigor.
