Hyundai Eon is the next small car going to be offered by Korean auto major to challenge the Maruti Alto in the segment. Few more details on the small car have been obtained from our sources who had been lucky to get their hands at the new mini wagon. The Hyundai Eon price is likely to be around Rs 2.5 lakhs for its base variant. As for the Hyundai Eon exterior looks, the new small car is a tall boy model, though not in the same proportions as that of Hyundai Santro. The new hatchback is shorter in length than Santro and said to be lighter in weight, weighing just around 795 kg. Sporting the Fluidic design, the car is bestowed with classy looks despite the low cost. The Hyundai Eon sports the same hexagonal grille like in any other Hyundai car along with the headlights with the chrome lining.

The Hyundai Eon interiors are also said to be well designed along the Hyundai i10 lines that supports CD player, USB port, remote central locking and tilt steering. Similar to that of Hyundai Santro, the Hyundai Eon also offers good boot space of around 215 L, offering a little sparse leg room for the rear seat occupants. The car offers a higher ground clearance to meet the Indian driving conditions. The Hyundai Eon engine is the Santro IRDE 814 cc engine with 56 Bhp peak power output. With the efficient engine, Hyundai Eon is expected to be an excellent car especially to suit the urban requirements of a small car. The car is said to be exceptionally good in handling along the most curvy roads due to its small size and the test drive has proved the car to be a good competitor against the other contenders in the segment including Maruti Alto. The small car boasts an excellent mileage of 21.1 kmpl, which is phenomenal.

While Hyundai Eon is the cheapest car going to be offered by the Korean manufacturer so far, the hatchback is mainly targeted to compete aggressively against the Maruti’s best-selling model Maruti Alto. However, with the much anticipated launch of the refreshed version of the phased out model Maruti 800 next year, Hyundai Eon will have another competitor in the segment. Hyundai Eon is expected to be launched in the petrol and the LPG variant only.
