The Hyundai Exter was launched in India in July 2023 as the brand’s first micro SUV in the country. It’s now been revealed that the Exter has now garnered over 1 lakh bookings. Prior to its launch, the micro SUV had already secured more than 10,000 reservations. Given the Exter's considerable popularity within Hyundai's lineup, the micro SUV currently experiences an average waiting period of approximately 4 months, as of December 2023.

What Does It Offer?
Hyundai has equipped the Exter with amenities such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof with voice commands, and a dual-camera dash cam.
Passenger safety is taken care of by 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a rear-view camera.

Powertrain Details
The Exter uses a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (82 PS/113 Nm). This unit is mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. It also gets the option of a CNG with the same engine but with a reduced output of 69 PS and 95 Nm, and only comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Hyundai Exter is priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Its direct rival is the Tata Punch, while it can also be regarded as an alternative to the Maruti Ignis, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Fronx, and Citroen C3.
