The Hyundai Exter does also have a few things in common with its hatchback sibling
Update (10/07/23): Hyundai has launched the Exter at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom).
We just got our first detailed look at the Hyundai Exter’s cabin in images. The carmaker also confirmed many of the features that will be on offer with the micro SUV. Since the Exter will sit above the Grand i10 Nios in the lineup, it comes with new features over its presumed platform sibling.
Let’s check out the top five features that the Exter offers over the Grand i10 Nios:
Digitised Driver’s Display
Hyundai has equipped the Exter with the same digitised instrument cluster from the facelifted Venue. It also gets a coloured TFT MID in the centre to show vital information such as the tyre pressures, odometer reading and distance to empty. Meanwhile, the Grand i10 Nios only gets a coloured TFT display in the centre of two analogue dials.
Six Airbags As Standard
While the facelifted Grand i10 Nios does offer up to six airbags with four as standard, Hyundai has gone the extra mile and provided the Exter with six airbags as standard. This is also one of the advantages the Exter will have over its direct rival, the Tata Punch.
Dual-camera Dashcam
The Venue N Line became the first Hyundai car in India to come with a dashcam setup as the official features list and not as an accessory. Hyundai has now confirmed that the Exter will get a dual-display unit, which should come in handy in emergency situations, and to record your trips or to document long and adventurous journeys.

Single-pane Sunroof
The allure of the new entry-level SUV from Hyundai is raised by the inclusion of a single-pane sunroof, which sets it apart from not just the Grand i10 Nios, but also the Punch. It might even be the smallest offering in India to be equipped with a sunroof.
Semi-leatherette Upholstery
Unlike the Grand i10 Nios – which gets fabric seats even in the top-spec variants – the Exter will come with semi-leatherette upholstery. While the Exter has an all-black cabin theme, the hatchback also gets the option of a dual-tone interior.

Key Similarities
While Hyundai has given the Exter a significantly different cabin and exterior design, it still has some key commonalities with the Grand i10 Nios.
The Exter has been equipped with the same 8-inch touchscreen system, wireless phone charging, cruise control, auto climate control, and steering wheel as the Grand i10 Nios. It also gets the exact same wheelbase and powertrain options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine with choice of manual and AMT, as well as a CNG alternative.
Launch And Price Update
The Hyundai Exter is due for launch on July 10. We expect it to be priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with the Tata Punch, the Exter will also go up against the Citroen C3, Maruti Fronx, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
