The Hyundai Exter is now a step closer to launch, by virtue of entering series production at the carmaker’s manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. The first model off the production line was finished in a unique khaki colour option. Hyundai is already taking bookings for the micro SUV for Rs 11,000. Here’s everything you need to know about the Hyundai SUV:
A Bold Design
The Exter will be Hyundai’s new entry-level SUV offering. It sports a bold look and gets a typical boxy appearance, which is down to the chunky wheel arches, body cladding and roof rails. Other interesting exterior traits include H-shaped LED DRLs and elements in the taillights, big skid plates, and chrome surround for the projector headlights.
Equipment Onboard
Hyundai has revealed some headlining features of the Exter such as a dual-camera dashcam, cruise control, an 8-inch touchscreen, digitised driver display, single-pane sunroof, and wireless phone charging.
The Exter’s safety kit will include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill assist, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, and a reversing camera.
Powertrains On Offer
Since it’s based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios, it'll share its powertrain with the latter as well. It gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/114Nm) paired with a 5-speed MT or AMT. The same unit will also be offered with an optional CNG kit mated to the 5-speed MT only.
