Hyundai India is counted amongst the most famous and prominent car manufacturers in India. Since the time Hyundai i10 was launched in India, it has been receiving pretty raving reviews. It is a fact that Hyundai i10 has tasted the flavor of success in India and is counted amongst one of the most successful small cars in India. But the Indian car market currently has a different scenario altogether. Because of higher interest rates and sky rocketing petrol prices, Hyundai I10 sales are dipping down slowly.

Hyundai I10 is available in petrol version only and at present, the domestic market is loaded with diesel cars, reason being higher mileage and higher petrol prices. According to the statistics, the sales of Hyundai i10 in the month of January 2011 were 16,694 and it tripped to 8,828 units in the month of July 2011.

Hyundai i10 also comes with a brand new Kappa2 engine, which produces 80 BHP of power, but still it has been losing sales steadily recently. Another reason for the dipping sales of Hyundai i10 is that the new Kappa2 engine is not good on the torque level and power. This in turn affects the fuel economy in a negative way to a great extent. Therefore, Hyundai India must start working on the diesel variant of Hyundai i10 hatchback, if it wants to get back in action. However, rumor has it that Hyundai India is talking about 800cc of diesel engine for Hyundai i10.

It is being said that Hyundai India knows that the lack of diesel engine in Hyundai i10 has been costing Hyundai India big time. It is pretty evident as the sales of this hatchback are falling constantly. So do some damage control, Hyundai India has been offering some discounts, offers and freebies with Hyundai I10, but sadly, it didn’t help.
