As the 2023 Indian festive season approaches, many new cars are lining up to be launched, and among them is the Hyundai i20 facelift. We've already had a sneak peek at the 2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift through a series of teasers, suggesting that the updated premium hatchback will feature subtle design changes as seen on the global model that debuted earlier.
Ahead of the official launch, some Hyundai dealerships are accepting offline orders for the i20 facelift. These unofficial bookings are available for deposits ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 21,000. If you’re interested in the refreshed hatchback, here’s a quick overview of all the expected changes:
Subtle Design Changes
As evident from the recent teasers, the Hyundai i20 will undergo only a mild design makeover. The changes include a new cascading grille at the front, updated LED DRLs, and a revised bumper design. Another noticeable change will be the placement of the Hyundai logo which, unlike the current i20, will be positioned on the hood.
The automaker has also given us a sneak peek at the rear design of the i20 facelift, the updated taillights of which resemble those of the globally sold i20 facelift . Furthermore, as indicated by our spy shots, the updated Hyundai hatchback will likely sport new alloy wheels.

Cabin Updates
The cabin layout of the Hyundai i20 facelift will be similar to the existing model, but it will likely get a different shade of upholstery. In terms of features, the updated hatchback could get a new digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a dual-camera dash cam, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
Its safety kit is expected to include six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera and electronic stability control (ESC). This time, Hyundai might also offer the hatchback with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technology, similar to the update rolled out for the Hyundai Venue.
Powertrain Updates
Hyundai will most likely retain existing petrol engine options with the i20 facelift. These include a 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/114Nm) paired to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox, and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (120PS/172Nm), which is currently offered with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). Going ahead, though, it will also get the option of a 6-speed manual transmission.
Expected Launch & Rivals
The Hyundai i20 facelift is expected to be launched in India by November 2023, and it will command a premium over the existing model which is sold in the price range of Rs 7.46 lakh and Rs 11.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The changes in design, features and transmission choices will likely apply to the facelifted i20 N Line as well which is expected to launch simultaneously. Once launched, it will continue to take on the Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
