Hyundai Motor India clocks highest sales of over 600,000 units.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the second biggest auto mobile maker and also the largest passenger auto mobile exporter closed 2010 by registering a growth of 23.1 per cent. However, the export department observed a decline in sales by 8.5 per cent. The cumulative growth though recorded to be 7.8 per cent by December 2010.

Looking at the December 2010 sales of HMIL, it was 47,228 cars over 47,217 cars sold in December 2009, however, the cumulative cars sold in both the year were almost similar. In the Indian auto market, Hyundai Motors sold 26,168 cars against the last year's 22,252 cars and registered a hike of 17.6 per cent.

In 2010, from January to December, Hyundai India rose by 7.8 per cent cumulatively by selling 603,819 cars over last year's 559,880 cars in 2009 and by recording 23.1 per cent sales increase in the domestic auto market when compared to the 2009 sales. 2010, HMIL sold 356,717 cars over 2009 sales of 289,863 cars. Globally the auto company exported and sold 247,102 cars over 2009 sales of 270,017 cars which is showing a downfall of 8.5 per cent in 2010.

Arvind Saxena, the Director of Marketing and Sales in HMIL, said that, 2010 came out  to be an optimistic year for the Indian auto industry as well as for Hyundai Motors India. He also stated that it is the first time the Indian arm of Hyundai had a cumulative sales of more than 600,000 cars. The company also increased its portfolio by adding the SUV Hyundai Santa Fe and the new version of “Next Gen” Hyundai i10. The cars have been doing quite well in the Indian car market and is sure to be performing well in the coming years. He concluded that the market will show further growth in this year but he speculates that the pace of growth may fall down a bit.

Lets looks at the cumulative sales of HMIL segment wise cars registered in December, 2010. In the A2 segment Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 recorded a sales of 42,397 cars, in the A3 segment, Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Verna Transform showcased sales of 4,708 cars, in the A5 segment Hyundai Sonata Transform showcased sales of 21 cars and in the SUV segment, 102 car models of Hyundai Santa Fe were sold.
