Hyundai to target ten new markets with i20

One of the leading passenger car maker and exporter Hyundai Motor is mulling over to target ten new markets with its flagship car model-Hyundai i20. Along with that the company is aiming to export 2.60 lakh units of its cars in the year 2010. The company's leading car models for export are: Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Santro and Hyundai Accent to more than a hundred nations. Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 contributed 68 per cent of total exports which account for 1,82,328 units. Hyundai i20 has got unexpected response in Australia and now the company hopes to export 15K units per year. Already 500 units of i20s has been shipped to Australia from Chennai Port.
Arvind Saxena, director and board member, marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor, told that the share of exports has been increasing from 35 per cent in 2006 to nearly 50 per cent in 2008. The company has exported its one millionth car to Europe on Monday.
HW Park, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India told media persons that the company has decided to enter into some new countries and a few names would be added in the near future.
Mr Sexena informed replying a question that Hyundai Santa Fe will be launched in India but he did not mention any time frame for that. He added that feasibility study is going on for the launch of the SUV-Hyundai Santa Fe. The official also mentioned that there is no immediate plans to launch Hyundai Avantea in India very soon.
