Hyundai to unveil the Grand i10 sedan today

A day before the Delhi Motor Show, Hyundai will unveil its new compact sedan, Grand i10 sedan. This is a global unveil and it will be the Korean manufacturer's first product in this segment.

The Grand i10 sedan is based on the same platform as the hatchback and will be positioned somewhere close to the i20. This will give the buyers to choose between a premium hatchback or a compact sedan. Ford and Tata Motors both showcased their products for this segment yesterday. Tata Motors announced the launch of its new compact sedan, Zest in the second half of 2014, while the Ford Figo sedan is still a concept.

The Hyundai Grand i10 sedan will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol and it should get the same 1.1-litre diesel mill too. Hyundai could even surprise everyone with a 1.4-litre Diesel engine also, but the chances of that are remote.

This segment currently has the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and the Honda Amaze. Expect other manufacturers to come in soon as well.
