Hyundai Xcent coming soon; Worry for Amaze & Dzire

With Grand i10, Hyundai India has captured a good market share in the hatchback segment of the country. The company managed to sell around 10,000 units every month, which is superb number seeing the growing competition. Now, the South Korean automaker is all set to launch the Grand based sedan, Xcent in India. Unveiled at the Auto Expo, the Xcent will surely give tough competition to the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze which currently dominates the segment.

At the time of Grand i10 hatch launch, it was said that it will lead to cannibalization and will effect the sales of i10 and i20. But, all went perfect for Hyundai and all three cars are doing good business. Now, the company is also aiming to replicate the success story of Xcent. It is expected that Hyundai compact sedan will be launched by the second half of this month, however nothing has been confirmed on the same.

Hyundai Xcent will source its engine configuration from its sibling hatchback. While the petrol version gets the 1.2-litre engine producing 82bhp and 114Nm of top torque, the oil burner is packed with a 1.1-litre engine that churns out a max power output of 70bhp and 160Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the petrol model also gets an option of 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Xcent share most of its styling cues with Grand i10 hatch, which makes the front fascia and side profile similar to its sibling. The rear is what distinguish both the models. It also comes equipped with several best-in segment features including rear AC vents, smart key with Push button start, 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, 2 DIN audio with USB, CD player with 1 GB internal memory, Auto folding mirrors and electro-chromic mirrors, one touch electric trunk opening and many more.
