General Motors, the US based leading car maker, has appointed Joel Ewanick as its new VP of U.S. Marketing. Ewanick is a well known marketing expert, who has worked with some of the world's largest car-makers including Korea based Hyundai and Japanese Nissan Motors.
Mr Ewanick is the one, who has given credit to Hyundai's Assurance program, in which company had provided an option to its customers to return their vehicles if they lost their income during a certain time period. The programe boosted company's sales and PR.
Before being snatched by GM, Ewanick was working with Hyundai (early in the year) and also worked in Nissan (since last six weeks) where he was working as a VP-Chief Marketing Officer. General Motors is among the top spenders in America's advertising industry, with an expenditure of $2.9 billion, in the year 2008 alone.
In India, the company has recently launched its compact hatchback Chevrolet Beat, which is receiving a robust response from middle-class buyers in the country. The Chevrolet Beat is competing with some of the most popular cars in India, including Maruti Ritz and A-Star, Hyundai i10, Ford Figo, Fiat Punto and Skoda Fabia.
