Hyundai is all set to launch the third-generation i10 in India. It all started with the first i10, which then became the Grand i10 with the second-gen model, and the third-gen will now be known as the Grand i10 Nios. In its latest avatar, the i10 is a premium offering from the Korean carmaker that will plug the gap between the Santro and Elite i20.
The engines have been carried forward from the Grand i10, but what is new is an AMT offering with both petrol and diesel engines. Hyundai will be offering it five variants: Era, Magna, Sports, Sports Dual Tone and Asta.
The Grand i10 Nios was recently spotted at a dealership and for the first time we got a glance at the car’s rear. The one point that stood out was the fact that the ‘Nios’ badging is present in the centre, same as newer Hyundai models like the Venue. Take a look at the Nios’ rear here. The current second-gen Grand i10 will continue to co-exist with the Grand i10 Nios.
The interior is new for a small Hyundai car. The touchscreen merges with the instrument cluster, just like the Kia Seltos, while the steering wheel design is similar to recent Hyundais. Premium features such as wireless phone charging and a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be present on the Grand i10 Nios.
Once launched, we expect the Grand i10 Nios to retail between Rs 5.2 lakh and Rs 8 lakh. In that price bracket, it will go up against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, Maruti Ignis and Nissan Micra.
