Jaguar, one of Tata Motor Group’s primary subsidiary, has released a short film featuring British artist Idris Elba’s 750 mile (1200 km) road trip in the latest compact luxury saloon XE. This grand trip took off from London and concluded in Berlin. The India bound cat employed a 2.0 litre i4 160.8 bhp diesel mill.
Through out the journey, XE endured through freezing cold and despite running on winter tyres, it managed an average fuel economy of 65 mpg (27 km / litre, approx) as these tyres tend to increase road drag to provide better grip.
The actor also had a chance to drive the sharp clawed 335.4 bhp 3.0 litre V6 XE on the Formula 1 Spa race track. Commenting on his journey, Idris said “I had a great time driving the Jaguar XE in some pretty bad weather conditions- the highlight for me was hammering it round Spa with the legendary Martin Brundle”. He also admired the way XE looks and made the head turn as he rolled down 4 countries. “I love the in-car tech as I’m a big fan of gadgets, and the XE was fully loaded in that respect too - I even planned my DJ set list as I drove.” He added.
The short movie concluded in Berlin’s Umspannwerk to celebrate Berlin launch of XE on Idris’s arrival at an exclusive Jaguar party. Driving the sport saloon directly on the stage in front of excited 200 VIP guest, he also lightened up the party with his very special DJ set.
Interestingly, the car Idris drove was the same car that is the strongest contender to make its way to the Indian market. And with its astonishing mileage figure, it is sure to impress buyers of our country. Furthermore, XE is powered by an array of engines that help it to manage emission figures of as low as 99 g / km CO2 to speeds of 250 km / h.
