India Bound Suzuki Vitara gets Sportier S Variant with 1.4L Boosterjet

Suzuki has introduced the new 1.4-liter BoosterJet engine with Vitara S in the UK. The vehicle will go on sale there from next month, January 2016. Besides the new engine, Vitara S is equipped with 17-inch Gloss black alloy wheels, unique grille design, satin silver door mirrors, LED headlamps with red projector covers, rear upper spoiler and black side body mouldings. For the interiors, the sporting theme continues with red stitching, red accents for air conditioning vent and instruments and aluminium alloy pedals.
Vitara is coming to India as the vehicle was spied recently in the country. Maruti Suzuki has probably imported it for displaying at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo. It is expected to be powered by the 1.6-liter DDiS320 diesel motor (Fiat 1.6-liter MultiJet), this engine is currently working in the S-Cross. While petrol could be the 1.6-liter M16A naturally aspirated motor as doing its duty in the UK model. It is also likely to get the Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD technology. Vitara’s arch rival is Hyundai Creta while other formidable competitors are upcoming Renault Duster facelift and Honda BR-V.

Speaking about the 1.4-liter BoosterJet, the direct-injection turbocharged K14C - DITC 1373 cc motor chucks out 140 PS @ 5,500 rpm and a max torque of 220 Nm which starts building from 1,500 rpm and stays till 4000 rpm. The engine propels the Vitara S from standstill to 100 kmph in 10.2 seconds and tops out at 200 kmph. The S variant comes standard with the 6-speed manual while 6-speed automatic is optional. The EC fuel consumption stands at 52.3mpg for manual transmission model (nearly 18 kmpl).
