Indian car exports register 5.5 lakh units for FY14

The car exports for the year 2013-14 has remained at 5,50,466 units indicating the slowest phase of Indian automobile industry. On the other hand, the domestic sales dropped for the second consecutive year.
Comparing with the total car exports in 2012-13 that stood at 5,47,222 units, as per the SIAM reports, the FY14 exports certainly showed a rise by some units. From the list of biggest car exporters, the Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor India Ltd, both of these have registered decline in shipments, while the brands like Nissan Motor India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Volkswagen India have showed increase with their overseas sales.
Statiscally speaking, the HMIL, this year registered 10.21 per cent drop with the sales declining from 2,59,811 units in 2012-13 to 2,33,260 units. While, the country's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India marked a decline of 16 per cent from 1,18,857 units to 99,832 units this year. The Japanese auto major, Nissan India's exports climed up by 17.32 per cent from 98,971 units earlier to now at 1,16,113 units.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor's exports rose 16.31 per cent to 27,266 units, while Volkswagen observed almost four-fold increase in exports with 32,588 units this year.
