Addressing the same issue, Rajeev Kapoor who is President and Chief Executive Officer of Fiat India said that they have plans to invest more on the infrastructure than on electric car segment prior to launch of low emission cars. He also added that though it is a good fact that the car manufacturers are turning to Eco-friendly technology but at the same time they are neglecting big fact that it can only be supported through good infrastructure.
The similar views were also echoed from American car manufacturer General Motors. The companies are admitting big fact that Indian ground in not the best destination to launch zero-emission cars as it lacks necessary infrastructure. According to company's official, the company is set to ring a zero-emission car to Indian roads but the big concern of infrastructure is yet unanswered.
Among the recent launches Revai from Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles has plans to build new plant in Bangalore with a capacity of 30,000 units per annum and it will start the construction from June next year.
