BYD (Build Your Dreams) has unveiled the India-spec Atto 3 electric SUV. It is the second product from the Chinese automobile manufacturer for our market and will be offered in a single, fully loaded trim. The SUV will go on sale in December followed by deliveries starting in January 2023.
Striking Exterior And Interior
The BYD Atto 3 features a minimalistic design language, consisting of a three-pod LED headlight setup and a thick chrome strip (which houses the ‘BYD’ badging) running the width of the front fascia. There’s also a slim LED DRL strip flowing just under the chrome strip, connecting the headlight clusters.
Its profile sports a cleaner look with sharp lines and dapper 18-inch alloy wheels. At the back, you see the ‘Build Your Dreams’ and ‘Atto 3’ badges along with the connected LED taillight bar. The SUV will be offered in four exterior shades: Ski White, Parkour Red, Boulder Grey, and Surf Blue.
The minimalist approach is seen on the inside as well as the SUV has a layered dashboard appeal with funky-looking air vents. Its highlight, though, is the free-floating, 12.8-inch, rotating touchscreen system controlling almost all features of the Atto 3.

Packed With Equipment
As part of its premium cabin experience, the Atto 3 EV also comes with powered front seats, auto climate control, a PM2.5 air filter, panoramic sunroof, and keyless entry. Its safety kit includes seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, and electronic stability programme (ESP). The Atto 3 is also provided with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features such as auto-emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Powered By Electric
The India-spec Atto 3 is being offered with a 60.48kWh battery pack with an ARAI-claimed range of 521km. There’s an electric motor, which sends power to the front wheels, rated at 204PS and 310Nm. The SUV can reach from 0-100kmph in 7.3 seconds.
Globally, the Atto 3 also comes with a smaller 50kWh battery pack with a 345km certified range. Apart from the smaller battery capacity, there’s no difference between the two iterations of the SUV.

Juicing Up The Pack
It gets a 7kW AC charger (around 10 hours) and it is also compatible with an 80kW DC fast charger (0 to 80 per cent in 50 minutes). The Atto 3 also has vehicle-to-load functionality, meaning it can power certain appliances using the car’s battery pack.
Expected Price And Rivals
We expect BYD to price the Atto 3 at Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a premium alternative to the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.
