It was already known that carmakers will be increasing the model prices for the BS6 update, especially for diesel cars, but the amount would vary. Isuzu has now announced that its range of private vehicles - the D-Max V-Cross pick-up and mu-X will get a lot pricier.
Isuzu has announced that it will shut down production of its BS4 vehicles by the end of December 2019. Both the D-Max and mu-X are available with diesel engines only. The pick-up currently gets the choice of a 1.9-litre unit mated to a 6-speed automatic and a 2.5-litre unit mated to a 5-speed manual. Meanwhile, the mu-X 7-seater SUV is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel mated to an automatic transmission.
The carmaker has announced that the prices for both models will get pricier by upto Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh once updated to meet the BS6 emission norms. The Isuzu D-Max is currently priced between Rs 16.55 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh while the mu-X is priced between Rs 27.35 lakh to Rs 29.32 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
While the D-Max pick-up doesn’t have a direct rival as such, the mu-X competes against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4. So, if you were considering to buy an Isuzu, it may be more affordable to place your order now.
