Jaguar’s first-ever Sports Utility Vehicle, the 'F-Pace,’ has recently been spied inside-out while undergoing test runs in the United Kingdom. Destined to arrive in 2016, the F-Pace is based on the C-X17 concept car displayed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

As clearly evident from these images, the production version borrows its styling cues from the concept car and the major highlights at the front, comes in the form of the XF-inspired headlamps, large prominent grille and air intakes. The prototype also showcases a bold-sculpted bonnet and an upward sweeping belt line, while at the rear, wraparound taillights and a tailgate-mounted spoiler comes as the major highlights. On the inside, we see a dash layout, very much similar to the one in the brand’s upcoming XE sedan. A three-spoke steering wheel and a sticker that simulates an infotainment system can also be seen. Though this particular prototype is still at a very early stage of development, so the final interiors will surely see some change in the final production avatar.

The F-Pace is underpinned on an all-new advanced lightweight aluminum platform, the iQ[Al]. Debuted recently in the 2017 XE sedan, the new platform is a light and stiff version of the sister brand- Land Rover's Premium Lightweight Architecture.

To take on the likes of BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC (next-gen GLK-Class) in the premium small crossover segment,  the standard powerplants under the hood of the F-Pace will include Jaguar’s Ingenium range of turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinders, and likely the carmaker's supercharged 3.0-litre V-6 as well.

Stay tuned to the space for more on Jaguar F-Pace!
