Jaguar XF 2.2 was earlier rumoured to be launched within this year only in India, but our trusted sources have now confirmed that the XF saloon will be launched in the next year. The car is currently sold in India with three engine options, 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 5.0-litre petrol and 5.0-litre supercharged petrol, but the all new Jaguar XF will house a 2.2-litre, four cylinder diesel engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission gearbox, helping it becoming cheaper and better in terms of fuel efficiency.
The 2.2-litre diesel engine is going to be the same mill that now houses the Land Rover freelander and Evoque. And Tata Motors is planing to assemble the vehicle locally at its Chikali facility near Pune. They are currently assembling land Rover Freelander 2 in India.
Jaguar XF 2.2 will initially be brought through CKD route, however the existing variants are brought as a CBU, due to which it is comparatively higher in price than its closest rivals including Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series, which get the cost advantage as they are locally assembled. Company has previously said that the fuel efficiency of the upcoming Jaguar XF 2.2 will be around 18.5kmpl,but whether they can actually achieve the figure, we will have to wait for that.
Stay tuned for more updates on the same. Cheers!
