Takeaways
-
The Kia Seltos ruled the compact SUV segment for the second time in a row. The South Korean carmaker managed to ship more than 5,000 units of the SUV as compared to the previous month. Clearly, the Seltos dominates the segment with a market share of over 47 percent.
-
Kia’s sibling, the Hyundai Creta, took second spot on the list. It witnessed the least growth in terms of month-on-month (MoM) figures. However, the Creta’s year-on-year (YoY) market share took the worst hit and has gone down from 56 per cent in 2018 to almost 27 per cent this year.
-
The Scorpio is Mahindra’s sole offering in this segment. Even though the Indian carmaker shipped 4,600-odd units of the Scorpio, its market share went down by more than five percent. The SUV now commands a market share of almost 17 per cent.
-
Maruti’s compact crossover, the S-Cross, managed to keep the momentum going with 1,356 units being shipped in October. The sales figures are a definite improvement when compared to the previous month and the S-Cross’ MoM figures witnessed a growth of over 30 per cent.
-
The French carmaker, Renault, is the only brand that offers two models in the compact SUV segment. The Captur’s MoM figures saw the highest growth of over 1,100 percent. Even then, its market share is the least at 0.81 percent, making it the least popular compact SUV in the country. On the other hand, Renault managed to ship over 600 units of the Duster in October.
-
The Nissan Kicks finished second to last with only 313 units being shipped during the festive month. However, its MoM figures went up by over 53 per cent.
