In this article, we are not going to bore you with a lot of numbers; instead, let’s just talk about the least expensive car in the segment.
Accidental Repair
As discussed in our article about accidental repair costs, the Renault Kwid with its fancier body panels turned out to be the most expensive hatchback to repair. At the other end, it was the Maruti Alto 800 which proved to be the most affordable. Of all the listed parts, 76.5 percent of the parts of the Alto were the most affordable in the comparison. The Kwid accounted for 17.6 percent of those whereas the S-Presso only had 5.9 percent least expensive parts. Even when you compare the total of all the common parts, it’s the Alto that’s the least expensive, followed by the S-Presso and the Kwid neck and neck.
Comparative costs of a few commonly damaged parts in an accident of the three cars are given below. For a detailed part price analysis, check out the full story in the link above.
Wear And Tear Parts
The story in the wear and tear parts is clearer. The total number of parts here is more and hence the final cost difference is larger. However, it’s again the Maruti Alto 800 leading with 65 percent least expensive parts of the total. Even when the total is compared, it is slightly less expensive to maintain than the S-Presso, with the Kwid being the most expensive by a sizable margin. This could be down to the fact that the Kwid does not sell in the same numbers, plus it has no cousins to share parts with. Hence, the individual part costs are higher. Costs of a few common wear and tear parts of the three cars are given below. For more parts and prices, check out the story in the link above.
Verdict
Overall, with 70.3 per cent of the least expensive parts combined, it’s the Alto 800 that’s the least expensive hatchback to maintain in the segment. And despite having less least expensive parts, the S-Presso takes the second spot as the Renault Kwid has the highest number of most expensive parts.
