Lamborghini, the Italian supercar maker, hosted its first ‘Super Sports Car Drive for Women’ in India at New Delhi. The event was aimed at increasing driving passion among women drivers of the country.
The mega drive was flagged off by Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini India, and Armaan Ebrahim, Indian contender for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing championship. However, the main attraction of the drive was Sheetal Dugar, the first woman owner of a Lamborghini in India. She has won supercar racing Club GT’s races in Kolkata and has immense passion for supercars. She was accompanied by eight other women drivers from different walks of life.
Thrilled by the experience of driving, Sheetal Dugar said, “It was a privilege to be a part of the first ever super sports car drive for women conducted by Lamborghini in India. It was the first time, I have ever driven in an all-women drive. Events like this should motivate women in our country to follow their passion for driving super sports cars. It feels I am exploring new horizons and crossing more boundaries every time that I am behind my steering wheel.”
The drive was of 45km, starting from Shangri-La Hotel at the centre of Delhi to the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). Followed by city driving, they were given the chance to drive on the BIC. This gave all the drivers the experience of driving a Lambo in the city as well as on the race tracks. Armaan guided the female drivers on the nitty-gritty of driving on a race track.
Andrea Baldi, general manager Automobili Lamborghini Asia-Pacific commented, “With the number of women car buyers increasing every year globally, we are glad that Lamborghini India took this initiative to provide a platform for women to drive super sports cars in India.”
Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini India added, “We intend to serve as a catalyst for the passion of driving amongst women. Lamborghini India will take this initiative forward across other cities in the country."
