Land Rover Discovery Facelift Launched In India, Priced At Rs 88.06 Lakh

The facelift brings in new updates to the exterior and interior of the Discovery, as well as new features

• The facelifted Discovery is available with two turbo-petrol engines and one diesel engine.

• It gets new LED headlights, tail lights, bumpers and grille.

• New 11.4-inch touchscreen is the same as other new JLR models.

• PM2.5 air filter is also part of the feature list.

• It goes up against BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volvo XC90.

Land Rover has launched the facelifted Discovery in India with its price starting at Rs 88.06 lakh with prices going all the way up to Rs 1.2 crore (both ex-showroom). The SUV is offered in a three-row configuration and two trims levels: Discovery and Discovery R-Dynamic. Both these trims can be had in three variants: S, SE and HSE.

Variant wise prices

The facelifted Discovery gets three engine options. A 2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that makes 300PS/400Nm, a 3-litre, six-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that makes 360PS/500Nm and a 3-litre, six-cylinder, diesel engine that makes 300PS/650Nm. All three engines come with an automatic transmission. Furthermore, both the 3-litre engines come configured in an inline configuration, and make use of mild-hybrid systems.

While overall design remains similar, Land Rover has extensively updated the front fascia of the facelifted Discovery. There are new LED headlights, the grille has been restyled and so has the bumper. At the rear, the symmetrical look has been preserved, but the bumper and tail lamps have been reworked. The tail lamps are now connected by a black applique as well.

On the inside, Land Rover hasn’t made changes to the overall design However, a host of new additions do give the Discovery’s cabin a new life. There is a new 11.4-inch touchscreen that’s part of Jaguar Land Rover’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment, also seen on other models of the brand. It also encompasses connected car tech which allows for OTA (over the air) updates. The AC controls now make use of haptic feedback along with integrated dials which can be used to control various functions. The gear-knob, which was a dial before, is now back to looking like a conventional gear lever. The steering wheel design has also been altered.

Land Rover has also added a  new air purifier to the Discovery, which has PM2.5 filtration capabilities. It also says that the bolstering of the rear seats has been changed and they now provide more lateral support, more under-thigh support and a better overall posture for their occupants.

The facelifted Discovery also makes use of a new intelligent AWD (all-wheel-drive) system that is claimed to be better at finding traction. It also has an updated terrain management system, called Terrain Response 2.

The Discovery facelift has renewed its rivalry with the likes of BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and the Volvo XC90.
