As per the latest reports, Land Rover Design and marketing departments are eyeing to add a new model to the list of its up-coming cars, this new car is expected to span over the variance between Range Rover Sport and Range Rover compact Evoque.

Market aficionados have speculated that this new car , Range Rover Grand Evoque will be an upgraded version of Range Rover Compact Evoque, inheriting its sporting and dramatic looks and scaling it to a bigger model. It has also been speculated that this family-size 'coupe SUV' might pose threat to BMW X6.

Recent market analysis have revealed that people in China are shifting their interest towards medium-size SUV, demonstrated by rising sales especially in Shanghai and Beijing. There is a buzz that Range Rover Grand Evoque will be based on the same LR-MS platform as is used in Range Rover Compact Evoque. The LR-MS platform inherits some of the features from the Ford EuCD platform which was used in Range Rover Freelander. The flexibility of LR-MS platform can be accounted to make the Range Rover Grand Evoque 100nm taller than the Range Rover Compact Evoque.

JLR's new corporate aluminium platform that underlines new Range Rover Jaguar XJ and Range Rover Sport cannot be used as a basis for the Range Rover Grand Evoque as it is expensive and cannot be efficiently scaled. Furthermore, sources have speculated that new Range Rover Grand Evoque will hit the streets in both the diesel and petrol variant encompassing a 2.2 litre diesel engine and a 2.0 litre petrol engine respectively.Jaguar is also keen to manufacture a SUV on this platform, these cars are expected to be manufactured at Halewood, in the UK which seems to be highly economic.
