We might only see some mild refreshes and facelifts this year, like that of the XUV300
During the Q&A session at its FY23 results meeting, Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director (auto & farm sectors), Mahindra & Mahindra, confirmed that there are no new model launches planned for CY 2023. The big launches we are expecting are planned to arrive from 2024.
One of the key reasons is that customers are experiencing extensive waiting periods for some of models. The Scorpio N still has a waiting period of over six months with well over a lakh orders pending, while buyers for the Thar rear-wheel drive have been tasked with waiting up to a year in some cities. So to avoid exacerbating the issue, Mahindra has made the decision to not launch any new models for the rest of 2023.
Mahindra is expected to kickstart 2024 with the launch of the 5-door Thar. It will be a more practical offering than its 3-door sibling, with the ability to seat up to five people. Under the hood will be the same turbo-petrol and diesel engines, possibly in a higher state of tune. The choice of manual and automatic will be given, along with rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrains.

Mahindra has several important launches scheduled over the next few years. After the 5-door Thar, the carmaker has plans to introduce new generations of the XUV300 and Bolero. The SUV maker is also working on a Creta rival, which could bring back the XUV500 moniker. Lastly, a Gloster rival is also being readied, which will be the flagship Mahindra.
The company has also planned a variety of battery-powered vehicles up to 2026. All of its new monocoque models are also getting electric versions, like the XUV700, W620 (flagship Mahindra), and W201 (new-gen XUV500). Besides that, several EV-exclusive models, under the ‘Born EV’ name are also planned for debut by 2026. Many of these upcoming EVs have already been previewed in the form of the BE05 (Creta-sized SUV), BE07 (Harrier EV-rival), and the full-size BE09.
