Mahindra Reva has recently launched its first four-door all-electric car e2o in India at Rs. 5.95 lakh. However, the car didn't gain much response from buyers, expected by the company at the time of launch. Now, the Mahindra plans to export its electric car to the European markets next year.
"We have plans to export Mahindra Reva in Europe from 2014," Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, Chief of Operations, R Chandramouli, told reporters here after announcing the launch of the company's new model of 'e2o' in Chandigarh. The Homegrown auto-major is working on the regulatory framework of the European Union for starting export. The company has launched its all-electric, zero-emission car in Chandigarh, which would be available at EMI of Rs 12,802 for customers.
Mahindra & Mahindra is aiming metro cities for promotion of its electric cars, and the car will be available on Mahindra's outlet. The Delhi government is offering a 15 per cent subsidy on purchase of eco-friendly vehicles, however, the company hopes that other state will also provide subsidy on such vehicles in near future. The all new Mahindra e2o comes with lithium-ion batteries and can run 100km on five hours of charging. The car also features an innovative regenerative braking feature, which allows its to pump energy back into car's batteries. This will automatically charge the battery when it is in slow mode or even brakes application.
