In a bid to cater to the lower end of the commercial vehicle space, Indian auto giant Mahindra has launched the Jeeto at Rs. 2.35 lac rupees. The Jeeto is all-set to take over duties from the Mahindra Gio which shall be retired soon.
The Jeeto is a mini truck as Mahindra calls it - and is available in 3 variants namely - S (small), L (large) and X (extra-large) Series. The Mahindra, is powered by a single cylinder, water cooled 625cc engine mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox. The direct injection engine is christened mDura and has been developed ground up by Mahindra R&D. The engine can be had in either a 11hp or 16hp state of tune. Torque remains the same at 38nm across the engine options.
Variants on offer are as follows:
Variant | Deck Length | Payload Capacity | Power | Price (ex-showroom) |
S6-11 | 5.5ft | 600kg | 11HP | 2.35 Lacs |
S6-16 | 16HP | 2.45 Lacs | ||

The LCV carries the Mahindra family's distinctive toothy grille flanked by tiny circular headlamps. The Jeeto can be had with either a 5.5ft, 6ft or 6.5ft deck and with a payload capacity of either 600 or 700 kgs. The interior has a functional layout, with a dash mounted gear lever and adequate space for two people. Mahindra claims the Jeeto has 'car-like' comfort.It also gets a 12V socket, map holder, coin holder among other cubby holes.
With a claimed mileage of 27.8 to 37.6km/l depending on the variants and a 2 year warranty, the Jeeto certainly looks like it will give the Piaggio Ape, Tata Ace and Mini Ace a run for their money.
