As it was anticipated, Mahindra KUV100 has been able to make its mark in the market. The Indian carmaker has registered 21,000 bookings for its ‘SUV’ within just 34 days of the launch, though bookings started in late December 2015. Apart from this, it also got 1.75 lac enquiries for the car with 2.7 million visits on the website.
Speaking on achieving the feat, Mr. Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are delighted with the number of KUV100 bookings received within just a month of its launch and would like to thank our customers. The large number of enquiries and 21,000+ bookings, reaffirm the immense popularity KUV100 has garnered in such short time. With the launch of the KUV100 we have pushed the boundaries to create a new segment of SUVs as a superior alternative to compact cars and that has resonated well with our customers. What is also very encouraging is that almost half of our bookings are for the KUV100 petrol variant. Further, we are putting our efforts to serve the customers faster by increasing the capacity, as was shared during the launch.”
The four-wheeler is powered by an all-new mFALCON family of engines. While the 1.2-litre G80 petrol mill produces 82 bhp of power with a peak torque of 115 Nm, the D75 diesel powerplant with same capacity has power figures of 77 bhp and 190 Nm. The 5-speed manual transmission is standard across the lineup.
Mahindra went with an out-of-the-box approach this time. The carmaker introduced parallel seats in KUV100, which were not seen for quite a while. This surely worked for the automaker as it increased the seating capacity of the car. This, combined with the higher stance given to the car, helped it in achieving the milestone.
