Mahindra Reva to Bring Several Electric Vehicles

India's electric car maker, Mahindra Reva owned by M&M is aiming to expand its range in the next few years observing the rising demand for electric vehicles on account of surging fuel expenses. Commenting on the expansion plans, Founder and Chief Technology Officer for Mahindra Reva, Mr. Chetan Maini said that the company is planning to launch one new variant every year for the coming 2-3 years on the Mahindra Reva platform and there will be some new platforms as well.

“Mahindra has a strong research and development team and now we have a full-fledged facility where we have the flexibility to manufacture different kind of cars; and we have a good distribution network. So we have a pipeline of products coming out, probably one new variant every year for the next two years,” says Maini A lot of research work too has been going on in collaboration with Reva to electrify Mahindra cars, in fact Reva is working on Mahindra's light commercial vehicles as well like Maxximo and GiO.

He further added, “Last auto show, we showcased an electric vehicle; the technology is very scalable to other platforms. So, over time, you will see Mahindra vehicles getting electrified. They are all in a development stage and in a couple of years you will start to see them coming out. Like Verito, the prototypes of GiO and Maxximo have been done,” The Mahindra Reva which has recently opened its plant near Banglore is all set to roll out company's first four-seater Reva NXR during Diwali festive season. They have also signed a MoU (Memorandum of understanding) with the Government of Australia for setting up an assembly unit in Oz, and they are also in talks with many other countries for the same.
