These three EVs are next in line to be launched and all of them will be in the market by the end of 2025

Update (26/11/24): The Mahindra BE 6e and XEV 9e have been launched. Both electric SUV-coupes are based on the new INGLO architecture.

  • The design of these electric SUVs hasn’t changed a lot compared to their concept versions.

  • One of these EVs can reach 200kmph.

  • All three of them are based on the carmaker’s INGLO architecture.

  • XUV.e8 can arrive by December 2024, XUV.e9 by April 2025 and the BE.05 can be in the market by the end of 2025.

On the occasion of World EV Day (September 9), Mahindra shared a short video showing off its upcoming line of electric SUVs based on a new platform. It featured the Mahindra XUV.e8 (electric XUV700), Mahindra XUV.09 and Mahindra BE.05  – on a test track  – to showcase what they can do. While we have seen spy shots of the XUV.e8 and BE.05 testing, this might be our first look at the XUV.e9 in action. In the video, we got to see them going up against each other. Here is everything you need to know.

Design

Mahindra XUV.e8, XUV.e9 and BE.05

All three electric SUVs were covered in heavy camouflage but the overall design language of each of them seems to be the same as their concept versions, just with regular ORVMs instead of cameras. The XUV.e8 carries forward the look of its ICE version, the XUV700, and apart from the EV-specific fascia, everything else resembles the ICE SUV. However, the test unit does seem to miss out on the panoramic sunroof.

The XUV.e9 also has a similar front profile as the XUV.e8 but gets a black glass roof, coupe styling, and connected tail lamps. Another difference between the two is the design of the alloy wheels.

The BE.05 on the other hand, is a production-spec version which, as per some reports, is a lot similar to its concept version. It’s a part of the carmaker’s “Born Electric” lineup and will be the first “BE” to be launched. It gets styling similar to the concept, it has the same DRL setup, the same front and rear profiles and in one clip, you can see its flush door handles, which have been kept in the production-spec version.

Performance

In one shot, the digital instrument cluster of one of these SUVs was shown (possibly the BE.05), displaying a speed of 200kmph. This is a big deal as most electric cars have their speeds limited and the current mass-market ones go only up to 150kmph. This will make the Mahindra electric SUV one of the fastest Indian EVs to be offered on the market.

All three SUVs are based on the INGLO platform which can house both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive setups and can deliver power outputs of up to 395PS. That kind of performance is key for an EV to be able to hit those kind of speeds

Launch & Price

Mahindra BE.05

The Mahindra XUV.08 will be the first one of these to hit the market, slated to be launched by December 2024 at an expected starting price of Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV.09 will follow the electric XUV700 and could be launched by April 2025. It is expected to be priced from Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Lastly, the BE.05 will be launched by the end of 2025 and its prices are expected to start from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
