Indian chess sensation R Praggnanandhaa has just received a Mahindra XUV400 EV electric SUV as a gift from Anand Mahindra. The 18-year-old is currently the number one chess player in India, having recently surpassed Viswanathan Anand in the chess rankings. He is also the youngest Indian chess player to reach the FIDE (International Chess Federation) Chess World Cup Final in 2023.

Owing to this impressive performance, Anand Mahindra, chairperson, Mahindra And Mahindra, took to X (previously called Twitter) and announced the gift of the electric SUV. The promise made in 2023 has now been fulfilled as the chess grandmaster took delivery of the car with his family. Praggnanandhaa also thanked the Mahindra chairperson for this gesture by tweeting a photo of himself with his parents during the delivery.

Features & Safety
The Mahindra XUV400 EV got model year updates in January 2024, making it more feature-rich. Its current list of amenities include a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, dual-zone AC, a sunroof, and wireless phone charging. In terms of safety, it comes with up to six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a rear parking camera.
Price Range & Rivals
The Mahindra XUV400 EV is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It takes on the Tata Nexon EV, while being an affordable alternative to the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.
