Soon after the Auto Expo we will be seeing the revamped version of its flagship model Mahindra Xylo MPV most probably on January 20th, though the most awaited compact version of MPV, the Xylo Mini is likely to be pushed further for an April launch.

Mahindra Xylo Mini is basically a seven-seater MPV based on the Xylo platform but under four meters in length making full use of the government’s policy on the sub-four meter length vehicles. Naturally, the petrol engine should be not more than 1.2 L in capacity and as for the diesel powertrain, the limit is 1.5 L and it is exactly what we might see in the compact Mahindra Xylo Mini MPV. A 1.5 L mEagle common rail diesel engine from Mahindra Verito will power the Xylo Mini. As for the Mahindra Xylo Mini price, it is expected to be in the range of Rs 4.5- Rs 6 lakh to offer a good option for those who might want to own an MPV over a hatchback in the similar price range.

Now, coming to the new Mahindra Xylo MPV , there must be some strategy behind why the auto major scheduled the launch in January when it could have launched it at the Auto Expo. Quite obviously the renowned utility vehicle manufacturer wouldn’t want the two SsangYong SUVs Rexton and Korando E to overshadow the new Xylo’s share of limelight. At the same time it cannot defer the launch until a later time as all new Toyota Innova will be launched right at the Auto Expo, which is basically why the domestic car manufacturer has considered a facelift in the first place.
