Shinzo Nakanishi, MD, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed in the January Auto Expo that the replacement of Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto can be by a car, which is more contemporary in looks and style. Only after these statements, speculation had started that the car which will replace these cars can be Suzuki Cervo or a car which can be a revamped version of some small car or else the car might be a completely new.
The images of the car which is wired on net have given a pause to the speculations which were being created before. The vehicle is new with an all new design philosophy. The shape and design chosen for the rear end taillight is quite different from the current Maruti India cars in the market. The car has a look of i20 with its swept-back design and taillight.
The boot lids of A-star or the Swift are too short but the new model has conventional designs of boot lids. The car had an “LXi” badge in the right bottom corner of the boot lid. The front end of the vehicle boosts off the design philosophy and can be the selling point of the car. Though Maruti has copied the hexagonal air-dam upfront from Hyundai and Ford but the front grille is small and has a prominent ‘S’ emblem (Suzuki) in the centre with a single chrome slat.
The headlights are similar to that of Ford Figo. The winglets on the front bumper and the creases which are prominent on bonnet are adding to its features a grace. The side profile of the car showcases the typical Maruti Suzuki style with wheel arches and bolstered shoulder-line which adds some heavy looks to the car. The new LXi version which has been wired has wheel caps which are smart in looks but are familiar to Figo. The car has an engine of 800cc which is said to be the new engine with newer emission norms and it will comply the needs of the Indian consumers.
