Maruti Alto sales crosses 23k mark

India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has claimed that sales of its small car model Maruti Alto has crossed the 23,000 sales figure in the month of March. According to company the Maruti Alto model witnessed a major sale of 23,569 units in the month of March and this is the 11th time the model has crossed the 20,000 mark for a month sale. According to company the sales figure for the same period of the last year was 19,482 units while this year the company witnessed a growth of 20.98 percent in the sales of its Maruti Alto model and crossed the 23 thousand mark.

According to news reports the Until now the Maruti 800 is the only car other then Maruti Alto which has crossed the 20,000 sales mark in a single month and that is only for once. According to company Maruti Alto is crossing the 10,000 mark every month since last 51 consecutive months.

After the launch of Tata Nano the company is planning to launch its Alto model in competition of Tata Nano. Besides this company is also expected to slash the price of Maruti Alto to compete with Tata Nano.
