Maruti Alto slated to be launched in India on 4th Aug

India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch a new version of its best selling car Alto in the Indian market on 4th of August 2010. The Alto K10, as named by the company will sport a 998cc K-Series engine along with a new cable type transmission. The length of the Alto will be increased to 125mm, which makes it one of the longest car in the segment of small cars.
According to Mr Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager (Marketing) at Maruti Suzuki India, with this launch the company will continue with its ‘dual model' or ‘multiple model' strategy and the existing Alto 800cc will continue to be produced and sold along with Alto K10 model. He added that the Alto K10 model clearly fits in to the likes of an aspirational entry level customer, who is value conscious but does not want to compromise on performance, features, style and attitude.
The Maruti Alto is currently India's best selling car which clocks the sale of over 20,000 units monthly. Mr Srivastava added that with the launch of Alto in the Indian market the company aims to strengthen its position in the competitive A-2 segment.
By launching a new variant of its best selling car in India the company aims the Alto to achieve the crucial 3,00,000 units mark in annual sales. According to Mr Srivastava, the company is expecting about 25 per cent increase in Alto's sales after the launch of the new variant.
Meanwhile, Maruti India is all set to launch five of its portfolio cars in CNG version in India. All of these models will be launched in the country on a simultaneously in a single day in the second week of next month. The Maruti cars which will be launched in the CNG version includes popular models like Maruti Alto, New Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Zen Estilo, multi-purpose vehicle Eeco and entry level sedan Maruti SX4.
