Maruti cars get pricier up to Rs. 17000

Bad news for all Maruti car lovers! India’s largest car maker has hiked the prices of its cars by up to Rs. 17000. This hike is due to the rise in the excise duty that was proposed in the Union Budget 2012-13. This hike in prices will effect the prices of cars from Maruti 800 to Maruti SX4. As per the managing executive officer of marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. Mayank Parek, an overall increase of 1.75% has been done in the prices of Maruti cars. Under the change, the new pricing of Maruti Alto (800cc) will now be Rs. 4200 to Rs. 5900 costlier than before. According to Maruti India’s official website, Maruti Alto now lands between the price range of Rs. 2.4 lakh to Rs. 3.42 lakh. On the other hand, the price of Maruti Alto K10 has been hiked by Rs. 5500 to Rs. 5700. Now the current price of this model is Rs. 3.14 lakhto Rs. 3.30 lakh. Maruti Wagon R is also a very popular model from Maruti India. This car has also become expensive by Rs. 6000 to Rs. 7600.

The present price of Maruti Wagon R is Rs. 3.47 lakh to Rs. 4.37 lakh. Coming to the premium hatchback of Maruti that is Maruti Swift; its cost has been increased as well. Now Maruti Swift has become Rs. 7700 to Rs. 11900 dearer, which comes out landing between the price range of Rs. 4.44 to Rs. 6.67 lakh, depending on the variant. The midsized sedan from Maruti, called Maruti Swift Dzire will now become Rs. 8500 to Rs. 12700 costlier than before. The modified price of this sedan comes out to be Rs. 4.8 lakh to Rs. 7.51 lakh. Another prominent model from Maruti India, Maruti SX4 will now be Rs 9,400 to Rs 17,000 pricier.  The changed price tag of this sedan will range between Rs 7.11 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh
