Maruti expects surge in sales this festive season

Maruti India is surely going through a good phase. Its most awaited car, new Maruti Swift has been launched on 17th August in India. However, the sales of Maruti India were not very good and impressive since a past few months, reason being higher interest rates and sky rocketing petrol prices. But, Maruti Suzuki is expecting massive sales in this upcoming festive season.

The CEO and MD of Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi told that it is true that higher interest rates and petrol prices have caused a hindrance in Maruti sales, but it is expected that sales figures will rise up this festive season. The new Maruti Swift will help the sales figure to rise up quickly.

If figures are taken into account, Maruti Suzuki India sales stumbled down to 66,504 units in Indian auto market in the month of July 2011 in contrast to 90114 units recorded in July 2010, which is a total 26.20% of loss.The passenger car sales of Maruti India tumbled by 31.04% that is from 76111 units to 52483 units last month. However, exports of Maruti Suzuki came to the rescue. About 1.4 Lakh units in 2010 were recorded and the firm is expecting to do the same this year too. On the other hand, Maruti India exports also declined by 18.12% this year, but this is not as much as the sales dropped in the domestic market. Maruti Suzuki India has already commenced the exports to Indonesia and it is aiming to start the shipping of the cars to Thailand some time soon.

Earlier there were reports in the Indian auto market that Maruti Suzuki India is setting up a new manufacturing facility. When asked about the same, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi told that they haven’t finalized the location of the new manufacturing plant so far. However, Gujarat is one of the choices for the new facility location. As far as the new Maruti Swift is concerned, it has been a success already, just like its previous model. The new Swift price starts at Rs. 4.22 Lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
